Cookie and Storage Policy
Solar & Battery Guide uses no advertising cookies and no analytics by default. See the essential browser storage we use and how to change your choice.
This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage that solarandbatteryguide.com uses. In short: we set no advertising or tracking cookies, no analytics run unless you agree, and the only things we store are a few essential preferences kept on your own device.
What we use today
We do not set our own cookies. Instead, the site uses your browser's local storage for a small number of essential features. Local storage stays on your device; it is not sent to our server with each page request the way cookies are.
| Storage key | What it remembers | Why it is needed | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
sbg-theme | Light, dark or system theme | Shows the site in the theme you picked | Until you clear it or switch back to system |
sbg-recent-en (and -es, -zh) | Your recent site searches, per language | Lets you repeat a recent search quickly | Until you clear browser data |
sbg-checklist-en (and -es, -zh) | Which checklist items you ticked | Saves your progress on our quote checklist | Until you clear browser data |
sbg-consent-v1 | Whether you accepted or declined analytics, and when | Remembers your cookie banner choice so we do not ask on every page | Until you clear browser data or change your choice |
These items are strictly necessary for features you use or for remembering your privacy choice, so they do not require consent. None of them identify you, and we cannot read them from our server.
Calculators
Our calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are not stored in cookies and are not sent to us.
Analytics
No analytics service is configured on the site at this time. The site includes a consent manager that blocks any analytics script until you choose Accept analytics in the cookie banner. Choosing Essential only keeps it blocked. If we add an analytics provider in the future:
- it will not load unless you accept analytics;
- this page and our privacy policy will name the provider, the cookies it sets and how long they last before it goes live;
- a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser will be treated as an opt-out of any sale or sharing.
Advertising cookies
We do not use advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies. If we ever add clearly labeled advertising, we will update this policy and ask for consent where required before any such cookies are set.
Third-party cookies from our host
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly necessary for security, such as bot protection, in some situations. These are not used for advertising and are governed by Cloudflare's own policies.
How to change your choice
- Use the Cookie settings link in the site footer to reopen the banner and change your answer at any time.
- You can also clear the site's data in your browser settings. That removes all the items above, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
- Most browsers let you block cookies and site storage entirely. The site will still work, but your theme and checklist progress will not be remembered.
Changes to this policy
When we change what we store, we update this page and the date at the top.
